I attended the Pro D day sessions on Friday for tech which was a really interesting experience. I attended a few virtual sessions on Artificial intelligence and cyber security, which provided me with many valuable insights that can help me as a future educator. My mom, who is a teacher, has told me about a few Pro D sessions she has attended that have been super beneficial including a similar AI session. I think Pro Ds can be incredibly helpful for teachers, keeping them up to date on new technology, resources, and information they may not be familiar with.
Month: February 2026
I spent the course of my reading break at home practicing piano. It was actually nice because my parents were at work and my sister was at school so I had plenty of time to practice on the piano at home. I will attach a clip of my progress so far with my right hand. However, while practicing at home I realized I have been playing the last portion of the song incorrectly. So I have chose to leave it out and just focus on what I know so far. Writing this since being back home, I have worked on my left hand as well and even the hands combined, however, enjoy this video of my right hand progress from when I was home.
We had a bit of a different class this week, but I honestly enjoyed it. The content was very interesting and it opened by eyes to some new resources and perspectives. I am looking forward to Friday’s class where we will participating in Pro-D lectures. This week I spent some time going over my piano music and making some adjustments. I had a heavy workload this week, so although I didn’t spend as much time as I would like to on piano, I have all reading break to practice!
This week has been okay, I caught a few mistakes I made while teaching myself this song, which was a bit of a setback, however, I am really proud of myself for getting the left and right hand down. I head home for reading break this weekend, and am excited to play on a something other than a keyboard, I plan to submit a video of the songs progression so far while I am home. I have also attached a picture of the sheet music I am learning. It is weird because I would have played this so easily when I was younger, but since it thas been so many years I am struggling a bit, but I have to give myself grace because I don’t have an instructor helping me and it has been so many years.

I feel as though I have been fairly productive this week. After the few setbacks I had, I recovered well and did the best I could. I went to the Independant school on Friday and it was very intresting, I am really glad I decided to go. I have not seen a school like this before and didn’t even knew we had one on the island! Personally, I don’t think this system would be for me, I struggle focusing on a task when I am not given set instructions or directions to guide me through it. I also think the social aspect of school is extremely important and this setting seemed very isolating. Additonally, I fear these students may stuggle when entering univeristy, since they will be required to complete tests, assignments, and follow strict criteria. Personally, I think implementing a mix of inquiry based projects with tradtional schooling ways would be a wonderful foundation for students, I just feel as though relying only on one can be harmful.
I had a huge push back the last week. My piano I rented completely broke, so I was in a hurry to find a new one. I found one on facebook marketplace which I picked up during the weekend, however, I realized I needed an adapter for it so I ordered one on Amazon and now I am ready to go! After the set back, I was feeling unmotivated and struggled to get back into playing again. However, I sat down on Monday night and found a song I was interested in learning. It is a french song called Je te Laisserai des mots. I wrote down the cords and so far have majority of the right hand figured out. This will be a tricky song to learn, since there is a lot of hand position changes, but I am determined to get it down!
